Bright green dot. Struck straight down for about a second and disappeared.

Driving down hwy 70s on the morning of 07/18/16, around the time of 5:45am, I saw a green light in the sky. It was stationary for a blink of time and shot straight down or away from my direction. It was approximately over downtown Las Cruces, possibly Old Mesilla. Bright green beam of light, and disappeared after a 2-second sighting.
