bright star , going from standing still to moving and out of sight within 5 secounds

my daughter and I, she was at least 5 or 6 years old. my memory of the date and time are around about. happen some time ago and I remember it was while she was out of school . she was interested in the stars, we had brought a small telescope. we where just standing next to our garage, that is connected to our house. we where staring at a bright star, that seemed close and seemed brighter then the north star. we stared for a min and the star just went from zero to gone in less then 5 seconds. never really talked about except with wife, who brushed aside. been wanting to share ever since .
