Bright Orb traveling at 25,000 mph

Out of a group of 10 kids, only 2 of us observed a bright/white round object traveling at a speed parallel to the Earth. Could not accurately determine the distance, but it traveled above the tree line, about 10 degrees on the horizon, in about 5 seconds. This was in 1951 so jets, missiles or satellites did not exist. The date above is erroneous since I did not want to spend the time to scroll back to 1951.
