moving light moving in spirals and then stoping and shooting across the sky .

My mom, her best friend and I were camping out at the campground of Chaco Canyon . I was 14 and we were having a wonderful night sharing stories and looking at the incredibly dense array of stars in the dark sky. It was a perfectly clear night. We all pointed at the same time at a light we saw moving in a strange pattern . It would zip across the sky in a straight line and then stop and hover in the same place then make spiral patterns to then zip at incredibly fast speeds across the whole sky again . It was moving all over the sky for about an hour. It was like a star light not blinking. It seemed very high in the atmosphere. We guessed and guessed at what could move like that, but could not think of anything that could move that quickly or in those patterns. We watched in awe until finally it flew across the whole sky instantly and did not reappear.
