Shape: Oval

2 blueish white ovals moving W. to E. at high altitude, stopped then shot straight up and disappeared.

Two blueish ovals, at what seemed to be a fairly high altitude came across the night sky, stopped overhead and remained motionless for maybe a couple of minutes.Then they shot straight up at an incredible rate until they were smaller than the stars and disappeared. There were 3 of us who witnessed it. I grew up around aviation and had never seen anything move that fast from a dead stop before. It was not any kind of natural phenomenon. From it's actions it was intelligently controlled but by whom or what I have no idea...they were silent the whole time. We were 11 or 12 years old when we observed this. My father was involved in aviation his whole life. At one time he managed a local airport in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. so I wasn't a neophyte to aircraft. We reported it to the local police in Pekin right after observing what we saw but they laughed us right out of the station. This was a long time ago but I still remember it like it was yesterday.
