Oval light appeared and followed alongside a driver in a car.

My mom was 17 years old, a high school student, driving home from the grocery store in Effingham, IL. When she turned right onto her road, a bright object approached from behind and west. It was fully illuminated, white light, and an oval or horizontal egg shape. The object flew alongside her car for the quarter mile or so before she got home. It was silent, and over the corn fields to the west, estimated about 300 ft away. When she arrived home, she ran inside and got her dad’s rifle. When she came back outside, the object was gone. The next day, she found a large circle in the bean field on her property. The plants had been completely burned away to dirt. The shape was a perfect circle, about 50 feet wide.
