A glowing greenish ball of light falls out of the night sky.

We were standing outside on the porch.Suddenly my niece said "whats that"? and I turned and looked and saw a glowing greenish ball of light descending. It disappeard behind an island on the St.Lawrence river. I thought it landed on the island or just on the other side of the island on the river. It was still visible behind the leafless trees and then it was gone.

It was a little smaller than the moon. It disappeared directly under the north star. When we first seen it, it was like 30 degrees above the horizon and going down at a 45 degree angle from west of the north star.
