Man called to report just having witnesseed a "huge ball of fire, 1/2 the diameter of the moon," streak from south to north. It appeared to him to be a blend of red, blue, and bright white in color. It left no trail in the sky the way he would expect a meteor or a burning aircraft to do.

The caller was looking to the northwest when he observed the object, and he estimated its angle of elevation above the horizontal plane at "38 degrees." He added that he is "a pilot," and that he estimated its speed at not less than Mach 3.

He called again at 2230 hours to report that he had seem the same thing at 2230 hours! It had gone directly over his head, and it was traveling to the northwest at a very high rate of speed. He estimated its size as bigger than a nickel held at arm's length.

He volunteered that "something is awry?"
