9/24/03 Bklyn N.Y. sphere less then 2 sec. Object moved at speed of meteor. Stopped and made left turn. then dissappeared.

At approx. 2:40 am I was star gazing on my back porch. Hoping to see a meteor or a sattelite cross the clear sky. I always keep my head still thinking that this is how a telescope does it. From the corner of my eye I see what I thought was a meteor shoot across the sky. My eyes follow it and to my amazement it stops all of a sudden, makes a left turn and dissapears. Being stunned by what I just saw I stayed there for 2 more hours waiting to see anymore activity. There was none. Maybe someone could explain this.
