Large orange ball of light hovering 200-300 feet from our home.

Large orange ball of light seen above field behind our home. Appeared to be hovering approx. 20 ft. above the ground, illuminating field below it. Appeared to be approx. 200-300 feet from house. Our cat and dog were reacting wildly at back windows. When I turned on porch light, the object shot straight up and simultaneously stopped glowing. No sound.
