Witnessed 6-7 jet aircraft following small orange light which became extremely bright and shot off

Witnessed six to seven jet aircraft fly east to west over my home a little after 11:00 pm, they were fairly loud and my window was open so they caught my attention. I pulled a chair over to the window, which faces North, and opened it all the way. That night the moon was almost full and it was fairly bright outside. The aircraft moved out of site to the west and turned around and began flying east toward the Sandia Mountains, but this time I noticed a faint orange light was leading the pack of aircraft. It was very small, very faint and I could make out no shape, which was odd because the moon was almost directly above. The shape of the aircraft was quite clear and they also had 3 white blinking lights underneath them. I continued observe the jets and the orange light fly towards the mountains for app. 30 to 45 seconds, at that time I was observing them from behind the line they were in. When all I could see was was the white lights on the jets an extremely bright light shot out in front of them, It was orange but extremely bright, so bright that it appeared bigger in size. It moved up at a 55, 60 degree angle and curved straight up. Afterwards the jets continued to fly towards the mountains and out of site. I have no explanation for what the light was, there must be more witnesses.
