bright light purued by military aircraft

I live in the North Yorkshire moors and because there is no light pollution,the skyline on this frosty December night was quite breathtaking.

Going into the garden shed to turn the washing machine on,I noticed what appeared to be an extremely bright star fizz across the sky,without sound,from east to west,and come sharply to a halt and remain in a fixed position in the sky.

Then the familiar sound of fighter aircraft also approached (two of them)from the east,but in comparison to the bright object their speed seemed almost laboured.As soon as the military aircraft got within close range of the object,it quite simply and mind-bogglingly just shot straight up as if it was leaving the planet at a staggering speed! It seemed to me that the military aircraft were in pursuit or observing the object.This object moved in a manner,with a grace and speed that I have never witnessed.It was quite fascinating.
