My UFO report, Serving as lookout on a Navy Radar Picket ship (DE) USS Durant, I spotted a pinhead of very bright light overhead. I notified the Officer of the Deck. He called other higher ranking officers and chiefs to the upper bridge to observe.

Though long ago, I still remember it as at about 30,000-40,000 feet altitude, and changed direction very rapidly. It moved about 3-10 degrees as viewed from sea level.

As a lower rank enlisted person, I was not informed of what measures took place. It seems there was rumor or speculation that jets were scrambled from Hawaii to check it out. Not a great distance for tactical fighters to fly.
