Orange light hovered, disappeared, then reappeared shooting straight up until it stopped at the same point it was prior to disappearing

There was a bright orange light that sat stationary in the sky for a few minutes. Then it dimmed and disappeared for about 2 minutes before it appeared again, but this time at ground level making a swift move upward. STRAIGHT upward, to be exact.

It then moved on a slight angle until it reached the exact same point it was at before disappearing, hovered for a few minutes, and then it again dimmed and disappeared.
