|Orange light seen hovering and moving over Rochester
On the night of 13 October 2010 I was on my overnight watch for the fire department in my local town. I stepped outside in the early morning for a smoke break and to look at the sky since it was so clear out. I walked around the firehouse to check and make sure everything was locked up and nothing was out of the ordinary. As I turned the South West corner of the building I noticed a bright light approximately 10 miles away directly west of the firehouse.
I watched this light for approximately 15 minutes trying to figure out what it belonged to. I was figuring a helicopter until I compared the object with a stationary object close to me. That is when I noticed the object was moving from left to right approximately 2-3 miles at a time in less than a minute. The object continued doing this with-out ever dimming, so I was able to dismiss the bright light as being a landing light on the front of an aircraft. Since the landing light would dim as the aircraft turned away from me if it was circling something.
After 45 minutes of watching this light moving left to right and occasionally up and down I noticed the light seem to be moving away from me, West. With-in 3 minutes the light had moved a great distance away from the original spot where I had first witnessed the object.
I heard no noise associated with the light but I’m not sure if this is due to the distance from me. The light was bright with an orange glow.
