Two glowing orange lights traveling west over Griswold, CT.

On my drive home from work I saw a bright orange light moving extremely slowly across the sky. It was lower than the planes that were in the air at the time, and not blinking. It looked initially like a new street lamp had been installed (same shape and orange color), but very bright and too high up over the trees to be a street light.

As I turned the corner onto my road, I lost sight of the light. It was traveling west at a steady slow pace. I saw a second orange light about 1/2 mile up the road, traveling parallel to the first light in the same direction. These lights were very bright and non-blinking.

I pulled into my driveway and parked quickly, getting out to watch it move over the yard into the woods. My husband came out to see it and concluded it was a helicopter, then went back inside. I continued to watch and heard my neighbors remarking about the orange light in the next yard. They also didn't know what it was. The light glimmered, like it was sputtering out, then disappeared over the edge of the trees.

There were planes in the sky at the same time, and these were all much higher altitude than these lights were. The planes all had white and red lights and were blinking. I could hear the sound of the planes passing, but did not hear anything I would have attributed to these flying objects. If I had to guess altitude, I would have said about 300 feet to 1 mile up at most. It was hard to gauge how big they were since it was just an oval glowing light. The planes seemed much much higher in the air.
