Balls of light appeared and quickly spilt in half and disappeared

On 5/9/2011 I was sitting on my porch facing SE around 10:00 pm Eastern Time. And in the sky appeared a light probably half the size of a full moon in the shape of a circle, it was a whitish yellowish mix in color. To the left of it appeared another one exactly the same and also another to the right also exactly the same, within seconds the middle one split into two separate "balls" and then the one to the left did the same thing and then the right to follow, I jumped and ran to the door to call for a friend to come and see and when I turned around they were all gone. As we sat on the porch and I was stressing to her what I had just witnessed I saw another one in the same area in the sky I pointed and just freaked out as did she when she turned around and witnessed it also.. But this time it was just one and it never split.

Also that night my dogs, as well as the neighbor’s dogs were barking and going crazy. We also heard faint unusual noises for where we live, one sounded like a screaming baby, and the other was hard to explain, almost like a "shuttering" sound. I am not trying to be funny but it almost sounded like that "clucking" noise the "creatures" on the movie Signs made, I’m serious.

During this time my NOAA Weather Radio kept going off for no reason, there were No watches, or warnings in our area at all. This was a very unsettling situation…
