|Bright light travelling North to Southwest.
Coordinates of sighting: 37.885943,-90.594501.
At approximately 00:20 on 31 July 2010, myself and another observer noted a bright light rising from the Northern horizon moving to the Southwest. The object appeared very similar to a satellite; however, there was a slight orange/red "tinge" to the color and appeared very bright.
The object flew a straight course and appeared to be (conservatively) +1.0 magnitude in brightness.
The maximum altitude reached ~75° during the flyover, and it disappeared behind a tree line in the Southwest at ~ 35° altitude. It was visible for approximately 6 minutes.
Heavens-above does not list any satellites flying over at this time.
Observers are experienced sky watchers who had been out observing satellites as well as an elusive Iridium flare earlier in the evening.
