|Witnesses said to my boyfriend that they saw an aurora-like blue-green light in the sky at or before a huge power outage that knocked power out to the entire city of missoula for 1-3 minutes. The Power outage spread from Hamilton in Ravalli county all the way to Missoula in Missoula county.
There were mixed reports of what caused the outage. The Missoulian reported that the National Weather Service reported that there where no clear or known reasons for the outage.
Another report by local news KPAX reported that high gusting winds may have caused it. However, in Missoula winds were and still are 15 mph as reported by local hourly news on the radio.
I called my mom and she got on the internet to check it out and at that time she read their was a local report that mentioned that witnessess saw blue-green lights in the sky.
I could not find that stated when I searched later but did see that all local reports via internet had been revised from their original ! report. Possibly excluding the witness reports of the lights? I think so.
I have lived in missoula 22 years and Ive never seen an outage taking the whole city. As soon as it happened I felt like sometihng was wrong.
So did my sister across town and because so many people were talking about it at the gas station where my boyfriend was working at the time of the event, he too said he "felt something was up"
