Triangular bright Red/Orange Lights formation over the ocean blinking at each other then disappearing.

I live on the 11th floor of the resort, im living at and it overlooks the beach. I came out onto the balcony at around 10:30pm EST to smoke a cigarette and immediately saw 3 bright orange/red lights in a perfect triangular formation in the sky, over the ocean, more so in the Northern direction. I yelled for my roommates to come look. The lights blinked at each other almost like they were communicating something. The intervals of blinking were not consistent at all and the lights were not normal color, or brightness for any aircraft. after about 10 seconds of me watching, the lights disappeared immediately. About 30 seconds later 5 to 7 smaller white lights were in the same area. These lights were blinking irregular intervals also. Sometimes what appeared to be just one light, would all of a sudden turn to 3 lights in a cluster, but then again, not arranged in any normal way that a normal aircrafts running lights would be arranged. I'm positive these white li! ghts were traveling high speeds due to the amount of distance it covered in a small amount of time, compared to how high, and far they were. It looked as if there were vague silhouettes I could see around each object as they blinked. They darted across the sky heading south then abruptly turned back north as if they were being chased and continued until all the lights vanished. They did not fade away, and there were no clouds. They just stopped. I could not distinguish a shape of the aircraft because it was nighttime, but i could see the formations, lights, speeds, etc. I am the type of person who you cannot convince something is real by just telling me. I like facts and details. I will try my best to catch this on HD camera, because this is not a rare occurrence for this area for some reason.
