bright orange ball over Brooklyn

I looked up and saw a bright orange ball. At first I thought it was a plane, but there were no blinking lights. It moved silently across the sky and it traveled rather quickly. It reminded me of how, when some military jets are high up in the air, they move more rapidly across the sky. It did not appear to be very high in the sky.

By the time I was able to get my camera out of my bag, the object disappeared. It traveled from the north northwest direction and seemed to be traveling east towards Queens and Long Island.
