It was a brightly lit Sunday afternoon. I saw something like a refrigerator box about the size of a railroad boxcar flying at perhaps 10,000 feet, crossing route 270 from east to west, perhaps a quarter of a mile north of me, which would make it about 15 miles north of Reagan airport, at about the speed of an airliner. But it had no wings or tail. No sound, but if it was an airliner I would not expect to hear anything either.
The sun reflected brightly off of the body, which appeared to be white with pieces or strips of metal. Except that it had no tail or wings, I would have thought it to be an airliner, perhaps circling above before landing at Reagan or Dulles airport. Except I've never seen anything on such an east-west flight path before.
The object possibly left a fan-shaped tailing which I could barely see as it moved westward out of a dirct line of sight.

revised correction for " flying refrigerator"
Sorry, but I got the year wrong also on me correction.
It should be 01/08/12 instead of being dated 2011
