stationary fireballs seen in sky south of interstate 8 and west of Gila Bend about 20min

6/27/12 10:23pm Driving Eastbound on interstate 8, about mile market 95, 20 min West of Gila Bend. My sister and I spot the lights south of the highway.

First one light that looks like a fireball which has a smoke trail rising. Then that fireball emits 3 smaller fireballs like an explosion/firework but it doesn’t look like a firework. They dissipate and another fireball, the same size as the first, lights up not too far from the first. The first goes out and then lights up again after about 5 min. I took some video but it is very shaky because we did not stop the car. The fireballs stay stationary in the sky and are too high to be burning off a tower like a gas release at a dump. But that is what I thought at first. I have been reading others accounts of a similar sighting in the same spot, which makes me believe it has a reasonable explanation that no one has cared to investigate. I know I haven’t.

The most reasonable seems to be related to some air base that, I have read, is in the area. Not sure what it would be but it is probably related to that. I am curious but not curious enough to drive back there.

About 15 years ago I saw a similar light in the sky and my parents told me not to worry about it. Not really sure the relevance of that. Just thought of it. If anyone knows what the lights are I hope you post it somewhere on the internet so we all can google it and find out.
