Blacker than black, shape changing floating object.

I was sitting on Monte Sano Mountain at an overlook facing the north. A black non-reflective object floated up out of the base of another mountain north of my position about a mile away from me. The object was diamond shaped as it floated up slowly rotating and hovered above the tree line. As the diamond object hovered, rotating slowly, it began to change its shape into different geometrical shapes very fast ending into a multi-pointed star. Like a christmas tree star. Then slowly rotating, the object floated back down into the trees, disappearing. It never changed color, remaiming black and I couldn't see any reflections at any time. It seemed to soak up light which made it seem blacker than black.
