Triangular object stalks us on our way home.

We were driving home from Idaho when we entered the Salt Lake Valley it was around 3:00 am. As we got off on our home exit we noticed that there was something hovering over the capital, which was just east of our location. We slowed down to look and see what it was. The object had three white lights in a triangle on the bottom. We joked about it being a UFO. As we turned on our home road we slowed down because we noticed that the object was no longer over the capital it was hovering roughly 150 feet above us to the left side of the car. One of us rolled down our window trying to prove that it was helicopter, even though it was the wrong shape, however the object was making no sound at all. As we continued driving down our road the aircraft followed parallel to us. At this point I got scared and I directed that we not go home because I did not want whatever it was to know where we live. The aircraft proceeded to follow us as we went down different roads tryin! g to figure out what it was. As we were driving up a street suddenly the aircraft bolted away at a super high rate of speed. The aircraft went from being near us in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake to being near Antelope Island (roughly 30 miles away in a straight shot) in a matter of seconds. As we visually followed the aircraft over to the Island it met up another aircraft. The aircraft's seemed to join together and then disappeared.
