Sphere fell from sky in daylight and hit in woods directly behind my house; will keep hunting for it.

At approx. 6:30 pm I was outside grilling and observed a round solid object crossing the sky horizontally and descending rapidly. Gliding downward quickly as opposed to falling straight down…

At first I thought it was a deflated balloon but the closer it got I realized it had too much momentum and speed descending.

Object was larger than a baseball but smaller than a soccer ball- gold or tan in color, with a short loop of wire or string attached (probably no more than 6 inches long).

I watched it descend and it appeared to land/hit towards the top of trees directly behind my home. Birds scattered and leaves fell.

Three of us searched for an hour with binoculars but no luck so far.

Area is partially wooded and trees are very old/tall. May have to wait until fall when the trees are bare to find it but will continue searching!

Don’t suspect alien activity- probably plane/ space craft part but very weird and worth looking for.
