|White light hovering place, disappeared and reappeared three times, and changed shapes.
My fiance and I walked out to the Columbia River in North Portland to view the sunset, as we do on an almost nightly basis.
We gazed west, looking across the Interstate Bridge that connects Portland, Ore. to Vancouver, Wash. We noticed a bright, round light that appeared to be several miles away. The light hovered in one spot for several seconds and then disappeared.
My fiance said, "It must have disappeared behind a cloud." However, there were no clouds in the sky that night.
A few seconds later the light reappeared slightly to the right of its original location. It then hovered in the same spot for several seconds before disappearing for the second time.
A few seconds later it reappeared just to the right of its last position.
Here's where it got weird.
The light remained in one spot without moving and then started to grow from a round, bright light into a long, cylindrical shape, and began shining brighter. It then appeared there was a line in the middle and the two sides grew outward but were still connected. It also seemed to be rotating in place.
At this time a fighter jet scrambled from Portland International Airport and began flying toward the object.
The now oblong light continued hovering and rotating in place before finally dimming and disappearing for good.
