|We saw four reddish-orange glowing lights hovering in a loose formation.
As my husband and I were driving home to Durham (from Cary), we saw four reddish-orange glowing objects hovering in the sky. When we first saw the objects through the trees they appeared as partial shapes of bright color which confused us for a moment; we knew that various towns would be having fireworks so that was our first thought.
However, although these objects were brightly colored they didn't appear as sporadic bursts of light in the way that fireworks appear in the air.
When we finally drove past a field we saw the objects very clearly. There were two sets of two brightly glowing objects that hovered and maintained a certain distance from each other. Each object had an outer half sphere that glowed a bright reddish-orange and there was a glowing white sphere protruding from the center of the outer reddish-orange half sphere.
They were very dramatic looking because of their glowing brightness, their stillness, and their distance from each other.
They weren't in a close formation although we could see them all at the same time at approximately 500 to 600 feet in the air.
Unfortunately, we had no place to pull the car over so we continued to watch them until the road curved and we could no longer see them behind us.
We have never seen anything like this in the sky before.
The objects glowed intensely and their luminescence was the most striking feature about them.
