2235 eastern Scanner UHF communications report a possible satellite or space debris re-entry just west of Pele Island in Lake Erie.
Weather conditions are cloudy with IFR conditions.
Communication intercepted by amateur radio operators indicate that there is a search and recovery underway in the area. Moved to another frequency. Could not track. Communications encrypted. Scanned upper and lower bands. No avail. Canadian bands active, but encrypted.
A captain aboard a freighter in the area reported on channel 19 a bright flash heading from east to west under the cloud cover. His call was not acknowledged.
2250 nothing further
((NUFORC Note: If the object was moving from E to W, it almost certainly was not re-entering space debris. Virtually no satellites fly in a retro-grade orbital path. PD))
