Orange/red light in the sky moving from east to west seen in southern sky gone 30 seconds after spotted

I thought I was looking at a star then I realized it was too bright and too close to be one. The colour changed back and forth from orange/red to silver. It was travelling in the sky from east to west. I watched it until it was gone. The light flickered a few times and then it turned off.
