Small flashing green light in front followed by huge, steady white light. No sound.

Woke up to see a super bright "star" flying through night sky from north to south at approximately 40 degrees. Flashing green smaller light in front, dark space, then much larger (fingernail sized) white, steady light behind. No sound. I sleep with my window open for night air, and frequently look at the stars, so my binoculars were nearby. I watched the object for about five seconds before it was gone from my line of sight. Much larger than airplane lights. I would have thought some sort of helicopter, but no sound.
