Orange orbs over ocean three in a row

As we were standing on our balcony, we noticed a ship over the horizon brightly lite up. The next things we saw over the ocean in the sky were very bright orange orbs.

At first it was one orb at a time. Half a second behind each other, in different directions. Then three at on time in a row. One would dim out then the one beside it then the other. At first I thought they were maybe military helicopters or maybe flares.

But then after several minutes we saw them again. The last one was the three in a row again. This time I saw the three through the binoculars.

They were orange but also had a red glare in them. And just like the first ones went off one at a time in a row.

About two hours later the ship was no longer there.
