Last night October 8 at approximately 6:30pm I was watching the sunset as I sometimes do. I live in northern Waterbury atop the highest mountain with a beautiful view of the mountains and also surrounding towns.

As I was looking out the window, I saw a large orange glowing object that almost resembled a lightning sphere, but without the jagged edges. I've lived here for 13 years and have never seen anything in that area that would be light play or a reflection of any type. I called my 9 yr old son over to the window to see it. As we were looking at it 3 distinct objects started descending from the sky.

At first, they looked like giant orange fireballs but we were able to clearly see that they were actually a orange glowing trail behind 3 solid objects that were quickly descending down towards the ground. You know when you see a plane fly by and it leaves the trail in the clouds behind it? Well, thats what these looked like. I could clearly see at the beginning of the orange flame like trails, 3 solid masses. They appeared to be black or dark grey in color. They were descending from above the unmoving large glowing orange object that we first saw.

I would imagine a meteorite or anything else crashing into our atmosphere would look similar to what I saw. I was immediately scared and actually called the Waterbury Police to make a report and spoke to the officer who responded and came to my home. Whatever they were they each left a trail of what looked like fire behind them. Within 10 minutes there were helicopters that proceeded to cover the general area where I saw the strange lights. It would have been over the Naugatuck/Waterbury line near the I-84 interchange with Rte 8. I heard and also saw at least 2 army blackhawk helicopters that seemed to be working together that scanned that area and all the way into Thomaston or atleast thats as far as I could see from my view. They had extremely bright lights on though not the entire time as though looking for something. At one point I could see at least 4 helicopters (some not loud like the army ones) covering the general area at the same altitude they were originally vis! ible from and then lower to the ground. They did this up until close to 12:30 in the morning. There is no way they would waste that much money on fuel and man power on a phone call from one citizen. Clearly something came down that shouldn't have. I have noticed strange lights and irregular movement in this area before but nothing at all like what I witnessed last night. I'm actually still scared about what I saw and would feel better if anyone else saw what I saw or has any information on what it was. I wish I could just shake off the feeling that whatever came down last night wasn't good.
