Shape: Fireball

Large and bright red fireball or light, silent and very fast moving northward, and then nearly 90 degree westward turn over Pamlico Sound.

Red fireball or sphere arose from behind a house or the sound (?) and quickly, silently, rose into the sky going Northward. Moved at a very fast speed and then turned westward and disappeared.

The light seemed larger and brighter than airplane lights.

No sound of a helicopter, and it was quite close (should have been audible, were it a helicopter).
