light changes colors, releases a smaller light and makes a u-turn

A white light came across the sky rapidly. It looked like the stars. It slowed when it was close to overhead. As it slowed, it changed colors from white to blue to orange to red. It slowed almost to a stop and seemed to drift (slowly wavering in direction).

A smaller spherical light came from the larger light that now seemed motionless. The smaller light seemed about half the size of the other light. The smaller light drifted slowly away from the larger light. The smaller light wavered in direction as it drifted away from the larger one. When it got a distance away, it shot off at a tremendous speed.

The larger light then began making a "U-turn" and as it did it began to change colors again as it picked up speed. Then it went off at a high speed in the same direction from which it had come.

This all appeared to be at a very high altitude and no details could be seen. There was no sound during any of this.
