bright satellite moving to the southeast ejecting a bright flash

I went out around 6:15 AM to look at the stars and planets. It was just before dawn, the eastern sky was a lovely orange when I noticed a bright light moving is a south easterly direction. The elevation was an estimated 60 degrees when I first noticed and about 30 degrees when I took my eyes away. This appeared to be because of the direction and not a loss in elevation.

There were no blinking lights visible, appeared to be higher than planes normally appear, was fast but not unbelievably fast, and made no sudden turns. The only odd thing was that as it moved away and near the end of my sighting it looked like something ejected up from the object. It appeared as white streak of light flashing straight up for a fraction of a second and disappeared. I wear glasses and guess it was an imperfection in those or atmospheric illusion.

I checked NASA for the position of the ISS and when I looked that path was south of me and the position when I was east of Florida. It certainly could be the ISS but did not do the math for something traveling 25,000 miles an hour. I guess the path to the southeast was close to what I witnessed.

My bet in on the space station but hope it is something weird.
