When looking in the sky, I saw a light moving very high up in the sky, It wasn't blinking like an airplane and moving to slow to be meteorite.

I was standing on my drive way looking up at the sky. I noticed a star that seemed to be moving across the sky directly over my head. It was moving perpendicular to all the airplanes in the sky. It was moving slowly. After a minute I lost site of it behind a tree. A second later there was a flash from behind the same tree. Sorry, I can't give the exact direction in was moving in because I can't find my compass.
