Bright lights above Crooked Lake

We were on crooked lake in angola, looking at stars when we saw something that apperaed to be a plane, but it moved way too fast. It kept coming until it was directly above us, there were three lights that were very bright, my father suggested it was a jet, but I was not convinced.
