Still in the sky, gone in an instant

My girlfriend and I were driving west on Aldine Bender rd.( hwy 529) when I witnessed a gleaming object in between some clouds. The object was approximately at a 50 degree angle from the horizon in front of us. I pointed the object out to my girlfriend who confirmed what I had seen.It appeared to be extremely shiny and metallic, which is what caught my eye while driving. The object was completely still in the sky, during the time we traveled just over one mile. We came around a bend where the treeline obstructed our view and the object was gone.
