Four speeding lights streak across Archer County, Texas

On a cool September night in 2006 (exact date not recalled) at around 10:30 pm my brother-in-law and I were sitting in his backyard talking about the upcoming Whitetail deer bow-season. We were looking up at the stars as it was a clear and beautiful night. We were sitting in cloth camp foldout chairs and were both sipping Southern Comfort whiskey (I know, here come the laughs and jeers!) and reminiscing old hunting adventures we had shared. We were by no means intoxicated at this point, but I thought it best to include this detail, even if it seems damaging to the credibility of this sighting.

Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I noticed a flash of movement in the eastern sky and looked up to see four bright shapes flying from east to west at incredible speed. The four shapes were roughly triangular with the apex of each toward the direction of flight. The shapes were flying in a V-shaped formation (like migrating geese), but lacked the point of the V, being only four in number. The first two shapes were closer together than the back two, but each shape was in exact parallel to the shape opposite it. A cold bluish-white light radiated from the four shapes and was so bright that no other details of each shape could be made out other than color and a rough outline.

The four objects did not appear to be part of a larger group, nor did they appear to be lights or fixtures attached to a larger craft. No outline of a larger object around the periphery of the four glowing shapes was visible. In my opinion, each shape was a separate entity but flew with amazing precision and had the ability to keep exact pace and formation with its congeners. Amazingly, no sound whatsoever was audible as the four shapes passed directly overhead at an estimated 1,000 feet above the ground. The objects were visible for roughly 2 to 3 seconds from the first sighting until they had passed out of sight. No Earth-made craft that I know of can move that fast; their speed was phenomenal. As the shapes disappeared from sight I looked to my brother-in-law and discovered that he too was standing up looking skyward. His eyes then met mine as he exclaimed, “What the hell was that?!” I just shook my head and told him I had no idea. We stared incredulously at each other for a long moment before I had the brilliant idea to uncap the Southern Comfort, took a stout swallow, passed it to my brother-in-law, and then headed for home.

I know for some that the mere presence of alcohol in such a story will produce doubt. For those who have had similar experiences, I think these details only add validity to my story. Doubt all you want, I know what I saw. The only problem is I have no idea what it was. My brother-in-law and I have not spoken about this since. This is the second time we have both seen “UFO’s”, if that is what you want to call them. This first sighting did not involve imbibing alcoholic beverages and occurred three years prior in a remote location while camping. If I have time I will try to enter that account as well.

My brother-in-law has a B.A. in education and I have a B.S. and M.S. in biology. We are both solid, reliable, family men with no reason to lie about this sort of thing. I am as curious as the next person to find out just what these various aerial “things” might be.
