Bright light with sudden burst of speed

My husband called me from about 1 mile away and told me to look outside quickly, what he saw a bright light moving fast with a trail.

I went outside and what I saw was a bright light heading east moving steady and quickly. Suddenly there was a burst of light and it increased in speed and then disappeared with a blink of any eye.
