Diamond shaped object flying over Virginia and changing into numerous different colors.

It was around 20:30 on December 29, 2010 when I looked up into the sky as I was getting out of my car. It was a perfectly clear night and numerous stars were visible. All of a sudden, I saw a light out of the corner of my eye. I looked and there directly above me was a diamond shape object flying at an extremely fast speed. It was fairly large. About the size of a 1/3 of how a waning crescent looks from earth. I was mesmerized as the object turned from blue to green to red to purple and then simply disappeared. I have never seen anything like that and it immediately gave me chills.
