Bright green light, oval, and quick

I was getting wood and I was out front of my house about to bring it in and I looked up towards the mountains on the left if your facing my house, when I looked up I saw an oval looking thing that glowed green, it lasted about as long as a snap, at first I thought it was a shooting star but as I watched, the mountain that it had gone behind was glowing green for about 5 or 10 seconds, then I knew that it coudn't have been a shooting star cause if it was it would have been gone after the first second, I knew that it couldn't be a jet cause it was green and it didn't make any type of noise.
