Orange/Red/White orb

Driving south on 19th Ave, approaching Happy Valley Rd. I saw an orange orb, about the size a of a basketball, outside my driver's side window. It was traveling along side my car, and pretty close, at about the height of a power line. As I approached Happy Valley Rd. it appeared as though it would continue going south, however, as I crossed Happy Valley Rd. it took a sharp turn to the left (east) and shot down that street (where I intended to turn anyway before I had decided to follow it). I turned around almost immediately to follow it down Happy Valley Rd. As I turned down that street I could still see it, and it appeared to be stopped or had significantly slowed it's speed (actually, I thought it had turned back towards me at one point for a few seconds, however it was much too hard to tell). As I accelerated towards it, it also accelerated.

As I followed it, it changed colors from various shades of orange to red to white (although I didn't actually see i! t change, I remember that all of a sudden I noticed it was a different color, then a different color once again). With the both of us shooting straight down the road, it seemed to accelerate further and I soon began to lose it.

Eventually, it banked off to the NE (across a barren, semi-mountainous landscape).

I pulled over on the gravel shoulder, grabbed my binoculars out of the glove box, and got a good view as it floated away. Again, it was nothing but an orange orb. Given that this was directly outside Deer Valley Airport (one of the busiest private airports in the nation), there were several aircraft around (and a few other cars on the road), but no one seemed to notice but me.

Eventually I put the binoculars down, watched it move far into the distance, then decided to leave, as I had put on a good-enough chase and figured this thing didn't want to be bothered anymore. That seemed strange though; as I think back I wonder why I left at all. It was like I just decided I h! ad gotten my fill, even though it was still visible. In additi! on, when I arrived back with my family roughly an hour later, I completely forgot to tell anyone. This also seemed abnormal, as at least two members of my family, besides myself, speak candidly about this "paradigm." It wasn't until I was out in the driveway with my brother and mom when I blurted it out. My mom looked at me puzzled and asked "Why didn't you tell me?" My answer, just as puzzled, "I don't know."
