Erratic yellow light

My boyfriend and I were out in a darker area in Northwest Tucson/Oro valley very early morning August 13th to watch the asteroid shower that was said to be happening. While watching for the asteroids i noticed a light north/north-east up in the sky, above and to the left of where Jupiter was last night, that was yellowish, and was moving left and right, down and up, waving, and behaving erratic. I quickly realized it wasn't an asteroid and called my boyfriends attention to it. He too said that it looked to him like it was moving.

I then moved to put it in perspective with a near-by saguaro to really tell if it was moving, thinking maybe it was just our eyes playing tricks. Sure enough it was moving to one side of the cactus, to the other. It was moving. Then all of a sudden it was gone. Then about 5 minutes later it reappeared, and this time it was higher in the sky, but in the same region. We got in the car and drove about a mile towards it to get a better view.

It then started dimming, then brightening, sometimes disappearing, and returning quickly. Then it was gone.

We watched for about 10 minutes, and decided we didn't think it was coming back. As we started to drive away, about 4-5 miles down the road, the light returned, dimming and brightening, until we turned down a street that no longer aloud us to see it.
