Bright orange light, star shaped, hovering high over town.

My family and I were playing at the beach at night and went down to the surf. We turned back inland to come back to our camp fire at saw a brilliant orange star shape hovering high in the sky inland over the town of Cape Meares. It was much larger than any star, and it did not sway or move. There was a light cloud cover,and we wondered if the moisture refracted the light as the star burst "arms" were very long and wispy.

We watched for a couple minutes, and tried to get video on our iphone. The light suddenly shrunk to nothing while quickly drifting upwards. We checked with a group down the beach from us, and they had seen the same thing.
