Metallic, cigar-shaped object, no wings, reddish-orange color, silently travelled in a South/Southwest direction over my house.

I was walking South towards my house and noticed something moving in the air above me and slightly to my right. I saw an object, cigar or cucumber in shape, traveling in a South to Southeast direction passing over my house. It appeared to be metallic, was shadowed on it's left (East-facing) side and was reddish/orange in color on it's right (West-facing) side which was illuminated by the afternoon sun.

The object made absolutely no noise, had no visible wings, left no evidence of a vapor or exhaust trail, had no lights or landing gear. It resembled a fuselage of a passenger jet sans any type of wing fore, mid or aft and travelled at a constant altitude, velocity and direction. It was obviously being propelled through the air, pointed/narrow end first.

I could not easily tell the altitude of the object with no point of reference, but in comparison to the sun's disk, I would estimate it to have been approximately one half (1/2) of it's diameter. There was a ceiling of clouds which did not obscure the object and it seemed to me to be well below them.

It's speed was impossible to judge based on the fact that I could not tell the objects altitude, but it passed from directly overhead through approximately 45° in roughly 6 seconds until it became obscured by the roof of my house. At this point I ran inside to get to the South-facing bay window of my house to view the object along with my fiancee'. This took approximately 4 seconds, but as we reached the window, neither of us could see anything in the air whatsoever.
