Last week I reported something unusual in the sky near Augusta Maine, a blue explosion of light near the horizon.

After giving it some thought and searching for explanations, I wonder if what my wife and I witnessed was entirely blue northern lights? We were driving primarily north, and it seemed like the lights originated below the horizon.
