NUFORC Sighting 96913

Occurred: 2013-03-28 23:00 Local
Reported: 2013-03-28 21:56 Pacific
Duration: 2 minutes
No of observers: 2

Location: Blaine, MN, USA

Shape: Fireball

Two orange circular flickering flames traveling the same path across the night sky.

Two orange flames silently crossing the night sky. My friend was outside smoking a cigarette around 11pm while talking on his phone when he spotted an orange object just under the full moon, following a straight trajectory across the night sky. 5-10 minutes later the exact same thing happened and he ran inside yelling for me to come outside to see it.

It obviously resembled an orange flickering flame, circular in shape. It was about 1/10th the size of the 11pm full moon, silently crossing the sky, heading from our perspective due north. I expected the object to get smaller, like a glass balloon with a flame inside it, drifting up into the night sky. This however was not the case. The object stayed the same size, traveling a straight line, and appeared to be around airplane altitude or possibly outside of the atmosphere.

It's hard to grasp an object traveling at such an altitude yet having a magnitude perfectly visible to the naked eye, it would have to be of astronomical size. It did not look like reflection, it looked like a bright circular orange flame. It took a little more than a minute for it to travel behind the skyline. My friend confirmed that the first one followed the exact same trajectory. We were both sober. This is baffling and so far defies explanation.
