Ball of light over Southern California

I watched a ball of light move across the sky for a few minutes, at an estimated distance of a few miles.

I watched a ball of light move across the sky with multiple seemingly random movements. The light would change direction instantly, rise and fall in altitude.

I ran back to my house and called my wife outside and we both watched the light for a few more minutes before it traveled south and out of our view.
